This is a Nicaraguan daily newspaper which was founded on March 2, 1926 by Pedro Belli, Gavry Rivas and Enrique Belli. Pedro Joaquin Chamorro Zelaya bought the paper in 1932, where he became the editor-in-chief. In 1934, the paper suffered its first censorship under the orders of Juan Bautista Sacasa, for being overly critical of the government. Anastacio Samoza began his own censorship of the paper in 1936. Under the guise of national security, in 1945, the government ordered the newspaper to completely shut down for an indefinite amount of time.
El Nuevo Diario was co-founded by a breakaway group of employees of La Prensa in 1980, sympathetic to the Sandinista cause. This daily newspaper was one of the two major newspapers in Nicaragua as of 2010. The newspaper suspended its printed and digital editions on September 27, 2019.
This Nicaraguan weekly newspaper was founded in 1996 by Carlos Fernando Chamorro Barrios who was the former director of the Sandinista National Liberation Front newspaper “Barricada”. Confidencial was known for its investigative journalism and critical analysis. The newspaper is often evaluated as an independent news agency operated by a small editorial team. Confidencial has two associated television news programs. “This Evening” and “This Week”.
This Nicaraguan newspaper was founded in 1986 as a news program on radio and in 1996 it was evolved to a printed monthly magazine. In 2005, it became a digital newspaper and has been giving news and information up to the present time.
